Runner on Sky1 HD’s Must be the Music
Last week I worked as a runner on Sky 1HD’ new programme ‘Must be the Music’. The programme is basically like the X factor. You have three judges; Jamie Cullum, Sharleen Spiteri and Dizzee Rascal. Various acts audition to earn a place in the final where they sing to win £100,000. The only difference being that the songs they preform have to be original songs, created by the artists. The show is hosted by Fearne Cotton.
I was working a a runner. My main roles on the production were escorting acts from the main entrance to the holding area, making teas and coffees and I spent a large part of the day helping with the filming of interviews. When the acts come of stage we were interviewing them asking them about how it went, how they were feeling etc… I was doing sound by holding the boom pole and logging shots on the log sheets.
The production crew was huge, and it was very interesting to see how everything is done backstage. The 13hour day was hard going but very valuable experience.
