Wedding – Mehdi & Lyndsey Saki

I was absolutely over the moon to be asked to photograph this wedding. A few years ago when I was still studying, I volunteered to make a documentary for the Refugee Survival Trust about the life of Glasgow based asylum seeker Mehdi Saki. Mehdi’s story was incredibly powerful and eye-opening.

After fleeing Iran in order to save his life, he ended up in Glasgow and attempted to claim asylum for three years, where he was constantly refused and forced into destitution. Now, in 2016 after eventually being granted refugee status and allowed to stay in the UK, Medhi got married on 30th September at Govanhill Parish Church and Pollokshields Burgh Hall.

I couldn’t have been more delighted to witness and photograph Mehdi’s big day. Seeing him happy, and settled with friends and family was absolutely incredible. I wish him and Lyndsey all the best for the future.
